About Rotary Club Of Bombay Powai
Rotary Club of Bombay Powai was chartered on March 11th, 1991 and was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bombay East. It is one of the most active Clubs in North-eastern part of Mumbai and devoted to service and fellowship for the last 27 years.
Our charter President was Mr. Mukund Ranade, Dist Governor Mr. Sippy and RI President, our very own Mr. Raja Saboo. This was a community just evolving, the fellowship was marked by camaraderie and the Club was the center of all activities in the newly emerging Hiranandani Gardens.
RCB Powai was started when Hiranandani Gardens was an upcoming Township with hardly any population or facility. What started as a group of a few members and like minded friends getting together has today become a 70+ strong vibrant club. Where there is a Rotary Club there will be Fellowship & Service. The Club is becoming popular in the local community as well as the under privileged section of society. The under privileged have found a strong champion in the club who look after their basic needs of education, hospitalisation etc. The Club offers a stimulating fellowship based on a fascinating diversity of interests in business, arts, sciences and the professional expertise of its members.
There are various projects undertaken under the 06 avenues of Club Service, Vocation Service, Community Service, International Service and Youth Service. Some of the projects through which RCBP has significantly contributed are organizing Blood Donation camps, Medical camps, Lungs & TB Screening camps, Diabetes Check camps, Eye Health Check camps, donating e-learning kits, erecting toilet blocks under Sukhada scheme, facilitating Solar Lights to bring lights into the homes and streets of Pargaon Village, organizing Fun Street for the residents of in & around Powai; organizing Republic, Independence day and Eco-Ganapati celebrations in adopted schools, providing Education Scholarships to meritorious students for facilitating further studies and making them employable. Some of the signature events of RCBP has been Tare Zameen Par and the Powai Fest which was launched in Y2013.
We have adopted two municipal schools and are helping them in various ways to improve their education standards as well as their living standards. We donate nutritious food where it is badly needed. All these service projects are done not only in Powai, but in different parts of the city and many times the rural areas too.
There have been innumerable projects successfully completed by Rotary Club Of Bombay Powai which have touched and changed the lives of ten thousands of people around…This has been possible only due to the humane hands which have come forward to donate generously from various companies who are now our strong “CSR partners in service.” To name a few, upgrading a hospital in Kadav village (Karjat) by donating urgently needed medical equipment through our CSR partner, Cole – Parmer; a Braille printing machine costing around Rs.70.00 Lakhs has been donated by our club to National Association for the Blind through our CSR partner, Ingram Micro India (P) Ltd.; a blood separation facility machine has been donated to Rajawadi hospital costing Rs.34.00 Lakhs through our CSR Partner, Thyssen Krupp. Further this Company will also help us to donate an Anaesthesia Work Station to Sion Hospital.
It has definitely been a very proud moment for the club to look back and be content with the work that we have done so far… Though, with the beginning of each Rotary New Year, all of us at RCBP feel that this is just the beginning and we ought to make many impactful changes and contributions of service to all around…
